Canada: Ivey PMI drops to 54.7 in January vs 56 expected

The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), an economic index which measures the month to month variation in economic activity, fell to 54.7 (seasonally adjusted) in January from 59.7 in December and fell short of the market expectation of 56. Below are the (seasonally adjusted) sub-indexes.

  • Ivey Employment Index 51.8 vs 54 in December.
  • Ivey Inventories Index 53.6 vs 52.5 in December.
  • Ivey Supplier Deliveries Index 41.7 vs 43.8 in December.
  • Ivey Prices Index 57.4 vs 64.6 in December.
