UK manufacturing production arrives at 0.4% m/m in June, beats estimates
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) published the UK industrial and manufacturing production data on Friday, showing that the overall industrial activity bettered expectations in the month of June.
Manufacturing output arrived at 0.4% m/m in June versus 0.3% expectations and 0.6% (revised higher from 0.4%) booked in June, while total industrial output rebounded to 0.4% in the reported month, against a 0.2% contraction seen previously.
On an annualized basis, the UK manufacturing production figures came in at 1.5% in June, outpacing expectations of 1.0%. Total industrial output also increased by 1.1% in June, beating expectations of a 0.7% reading and against the previous 1.2% (revised higher from 0.8%) print.
Separately, the UK goods trade balance numbers were published, which arrived at GBP -11.383 billion in June, versus GBP -12.05 billion expectations and GBP -12.526 billion last. Total trade balance came in at GBP -1.861 billion in June versus GBP -3.141 billion previous.
