Germany’s Spox: EU’s Juncker and Trump to discuss proposal to de-escalate trade conflict on Wednesday

A German Economy Spokeswomen is on the wires now, via Reuters, noting that the European Commission (EU) President Jean-Claude Juncker and the US President Trump will discuss the proposal to de-escalate trade conflict when they meeting on Wednesday.

She added, ‘We want to avoid a spiral on tariff increases‘.

Germany’s Chancellor Merkel said at her annual summer press conference last Friday, “he (Juncker) will be making suggestions there about how we can enter into a discussion process to avoid this.”

Juncker will “present possibilities for discussion” to the US president, Merkel noted.
