Markets in a snapshot: dollar climbs - ANZ

As part of a global snapshot of today's markets, analysts at ANZ explained that equities halted a three-day slide and treasury yields rose a couple bps.

"The dollar climbed and gold slipped. US equities rose on lighter volumes with DJIA up 0.9% and S&P 500 up 0.2%.

European equities climbed 0.1-0.9% with DAX outperforming. The treasury curve bear flattened with the 2 year up 2bp to 2.28% and the 10 year up 0.5bps to 2.82%.

Global yield moves were within 1-3bps.

The dollar strengthened against nearly all in the G10 with commodity currencies bearing the brunt of the decline.

NOK outperformed with the central bank signalling an exit from easy policy could happen sooner than thought.

Gold dropped 0.6%, possibly aided by Kudlow’s comment that he would ‘buy USD and sell gold’."
