Ukrainian hryvnia hits record low against the greenback
FXStreet (Łódź) - Following the drop of the Ukrainian hryvnia to a record low against the greenback on Wednesday, National Bank of Ukraine's Sergiy Kruglyk announced the plans of adopting a flexible exchange rate.
The hryvnia fell by 4% today vs the dollar today and by 19% since the beginning of the year. The Russian ruble felt the pressure and tumbled to a five year low on Wednesday.
Ukraine's political scene remains in turmoil since the ousting of president Viktor Yanukovych last week, as a new cabinet has not been appointed yet. Interim president Oleksandr Turchynov scheduled the parliamentary vote on the creation of the new government for tomorrow.
